Flagstaff Mission to the Navajos (FMN) was incorporated in the State of Arizona in 1949 under the pioneered work of the three founders, Miss Katherine Beard, Miss Imo Wardlow and Dr. Walter L. Wilson. FMN is a non-denominational, evangelical mission with the goal to fulfill the Great Commission among the Native people. FMN’s purpose is to provide Native Christian churches with spiritual and physical assistance in reaching the lost for the Kingdom of the Lord and to provide hands-on exposure to missions and cross-cultural ministry for those who are serious about serving God in a meaningful way to educate and train disciples to serve others. FMN is governed by a Board of Directors whose policies and guidelines are carried out through administrative Directors. FMN is a member in good standing and also adheres to the requirements of the Association of North American Missions (ANAM).
The Flagstaff Mission to the Navajos affirms its faith in the following doctrinal basis:
A. In one God existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit; these being co-equal and co-eternal (Gen. 1:26; Deut. 6:4,5; Matt. 28:18-20; John 1:1-3, 10,14; Acts 5:3-4; I Cor. 8:4-6; I Tim. 2:5-6).
B. In the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ; His virgin birth; and His substitutionary death for all sinners (Isa. 7:14, 9:6-7, 53:4-8; Matt. 1:18-25; Luke 1:26-35; Col. 1:12-20; I Tim. 3:16; I Pet. 2:21-25). In the resurrection of Christ; His ascension and intercession for the re-deemed (Matt. 28:5-6; Mark 16:19-20; Rom. 8:33-34, 10:9; I Cor. 15:3-4, 12-20). And in His imminent, personal, visible and premillennial return for His own (Matt. 24:3, 30-31, 42-44; John 14:1-3; Acts 1:9-11; I Thess. 4:15-18; Rev. 1:7-8).
C. In the personality of the Holy Spirit, who convicts the world of sin, of righteousness and judgement; and that He is the supernatural agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the body of Christ, indwelling and sealing them unto the day of redemption (John 16:7-11; Rom. 8:9-11, 13-17; I Cor. 12:12-14; Eph. 4:30). That He is the divine teacher who guides believers into all truth; that it is the privilege and duty of all the saved to be filled with the spirit; that the Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts to men as He sees fit; and that the gift of tongues is not essential as evidence of the presence of the Holy Spirit or of a deeper spiritual experience (Rom. 12:4-8; I Cor. 12:4-11; I Pet. 4:10-11).
D. In the supernatural, verbal inspiration of the Scriptures (II Tim. 3:15-17; Heb. 1:1-2; II Pet. 1:19-21). That they are complete and inerrant in the original manuscripts; being eternal and therefore the final authority for today (Deut. 4:1-2; Prov. 30:5-6; Isa. 40:8; Pet. 1:24-25).
E. In the devil as a real personality and in his dominion of the unregenerated world and of unregenerated people (Matt. 25:41; John 8:44; James 4:7-8; I Pet. 5:8-9; I John 3:8).
F. In the total depravity of the human race and in the sinfulness of man and the necessity of regeneration (Ezek. 18:4, 20; Rom. 3:9-12, 23, 5:12, 19; I Cor. 15:20-23; I John 1:8-10). In salvation by God’s grace, through faith (John 1:11-13, 3:3-7, 14-16; Rom. 3:23-28, 5:1-2, 8-9, 6:23; Gal. 3:26-27; Eph. 2:8-10). The assurance of the believer (John 10:27-30; Rom. 8:1, 35-39; I Pet. 1:3-5, 17-19; I John 5:11-13). Christians should maintain works, not for salvation, but because of salvation through the blood of Christ (II Tim. 3:15-17, Titus 2:11-15, 3:4-8; James 1:22-23, 2:14-18).
G. In the eternal conscious blessedness of the saved (John 5:24, 28-29, 6:27, 35-40, 11:25-26; II Cor. 5:6-8; I Thess. 4:16-18; I John 2:23-25); and the eternal, conscious punishment to the lost (Dan. 12:1-2; Matt. 25:41-46; Luke 16:19-31; II Thess. 1:7-10; Rev. 20:11-15, 21:8, 27).
H. In evangelism as the chief business of the church (Prov. 11:30, 14:25; Matt. 28:18-20; Acts 1:7-8; II Cor. 5:17-21, II Tim. 4:5), and the edification of all believers (Rom. 14:17-19; Eph. 4:11-16, 29; Col. 2:6-10; II Pet. 3:18).
I. That the sanctification of the believer includes adherence to the practice of moral purity. That sexual intimacy is a wonderful gift of God that is only to be expressed between one man and one woman (as genetically defined and originally born though God’s Sovereign plan for each individual), and that within the love and bonds of marriage sacredly vowed by one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24-25; Matthew 19:4-6; I Corinthians 7:3-5; Hebrews 13:4). Therefore, we believe that any other form of sexual intimacy is both immoral and a perversion of God’s design and gift (Leviticus 18:1-30; Proverbs 6:32; 1 Corinthians 6:18; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Thessalonians 4:3-8).
